I love it when masters of their trade embrace change rather than see it as a threat to their tried and tested. David Hockney has embraced the iPhone and iPad as another medium to portray the world around him.
Truly innovative mind at work. It would be easy for someone of Hockney’s stature to see technology as a limitation. Looking at this article from the BBC’s Digital Planet (including an interview on BBC Click) it feels like he embraces this with as much enthusiasm as when first picked up a paint brush. Although he excites at how technology can bring his art and his audience together, he still see the gallery as an important channel…his Fleurs Fraiches show in Paris looks excellent. I might just have to jump on the Eurostar.
