National Geographic springs to life thanks to Augmented Reality (and social media?)

It’s easy to feel like kids in a candy store with all the technology we have to hand today. But this doesn’t mean technology is used for the sake of it in comms. This video of National Geographic’s use of Augmented Reality is a great example of a relevant use of technology. National Geographic has brought the world to life through their magazines, but this is a real leap for them.

The video doesn’t mention any use of social media, but I wonder if they’ve looked at how social media can be integrated. Hanging out with a leopard, dolphin, cave man or astronaut is a video I’d like to share with my friends via Facebook or Twitter.
